It's Your Face!

A co-worker's daughter was turning 1. She wanted a smash cake as well as a face cake. Check them out!

Cat in the Hat

A friend wanted a first birthday cake Dr. Suess related... so I made a Cat in the Hat cake! Too much fun!

Baby Buggy

I created a baby buggy for a coworker's baby shower:

Barbie Mermaid

My hairdresser's daughter was celebrating her 4th birthday. She loves Barbie A Mermaid Tale, so I tried to create something similar for her.

Daffodils

This creation was my final project for the 2nd cake course. It has daffodils made with royal icing. I used buttercream to make a basketweave on the side as well.

Wedding Cookies

I was in a friend's wedding this weekend, and made 4 dozen cookies for the rehearsal dinner. Her colors were fushia and bright green.

Tres Leches

A friend's sister asked me to make a Tres Leches (Three Milk) cake for her wedding reception. I had never even heard of this cake, so I was very nervous! I had originally planned on tiering her cake, but this cake is too heavy. So here's what we ended up with!

Take me out to the ball game!

The town where I teach was putting on a fundraiser for a local kid who has cancer. His favorite sport is baseball, so I donated 3 dozen sugar cookies and a cake. Check them out:

Retirement Cakes

A co-worker's husband retired this year so I was given the chance to make my first retirement cakes. He really enjoys fishing, so I decided to take that and run with it.

The second cake said, "Enjoy Your Retirement Time, Harry!"

First Fondant Cake!

I made my first cake using fondant! I used butter cream to cover the cake, but used fondant to make the pink and green bow, polka dots, and curliques. I was SO nervous about this cake, and kept having dreams that I was messing it up! But I think it turned out well. :)

Sugar Cookies 2!

One of my all-time favorite things to make is sugar cookies. I use a family recipe and and top it with a homemade glaze. I love to make these for any and all events - Christmas, baby showers, bridal showers, etc. I have a variety of cookie cutters that honestly don't get used often enough. I would love to make sugar cookies for you as well! Here are just a few samples of some I have made recently.

Love's a Shore Thing

Another friend got married in May. Her wedding was beach themed, so for her bridal shower, I made her a beach.

New Home!

After my roommate got married, I moved in with my cake-decorating friend! We had a house-warming party a couple of months after we moved in. Of course, we had to make a cake for the party!

Lloyd the Lobster

My roommate and her fiance requested a lobster cake for their groom's cake. My friend, Jen, and I created a lobster, Lloyd. No one makes a lobster cake pan, so our creativity was put to the test. This is what we came up with:

Book Cake

For the first day of school, I used a book cake pan and printed off coloring pages for my design. It was a fun way to start the school year!

Birthday Cakes

Here are some examples of birthday cakes that I have made:

Barbie Doll

Who doesn't love a Barbie cake?! One of my first requests by a friend was to make her daughter a Barbie cake. I had never even heard of these, so I was a little nervous. But I accepted the challenge and had so much fun with it!

Flags

I have made a few flag cakes. A friend asked me to make their groom's cake last summer. The groom wanted a United States flag, as he is a Marine. I practiced making one for Flag Day, as well as for my best friend's birthday on the 4th of July. My best friend asked for non-traditional colors for her cake, though. She is tired of always having red, white, and blue for her birthday!

Roses

Here are a couple of cakes where I made roses with butter cream icing. It definitely takes time and patience to make roses, but they are so pretty once they are done!

First Creations

I started taking Wilton classes in May 2009. These are my first creations.

I can make any image on a cake, such as this rainbow.

I created this one in honor of our school's Field Day. It had been raining, so I was hoping for a rainbow and sunny skies. My wish came true!

I also learned how to make clowns. I absolutely loved learning how to make these! They make me laugh every time! I gave this one to my co-workers on the last day of school - it was time to clown around! :)

First Time Blogger

I'm a blogger! I finally joined the rest of the 21st century and began a blog. I thought this would be a good way for everyone to see my cake creations, so hopefully you want to order one! As a teacher, I am full of free time during the summer and would love to fill that time with making cakes. So take a look, and let me know if you would like me to make you one (or two... :) ).
